CT Home Energy Assessments
Homestead Comfort is an authorized contractor of Energize CT. Homestead Energy SolutionsSM provides a comprehensive, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency and comfort at home, while helping to protect the environment. During a home energy assessment, you'll be provided with an average value of $1,000 worth of energy-efficient products and services for a copay of $174*. Here’s everything you need to know about the big day!
The Home Energy Service Includes:
A Safety Inspection of Your Combustible Appliances
Your mechanical systems such as burner/furnace, domestic hot water heater and/or gas fired appliances will be tested for carbon monoxide output, spillage, and overall safety performance.
Blower Door Guided Air Sealing
Your home will be inspected using the latest tools to pinpoint wasteful drafts and leaks. We will inspect your windows, doors, attic, exhausts, dryer vents, recessed lights, crawlspaces and ductwork system. Identified leaks will be professionally sealed during our visit, making your home more energy efficient. Afterwards, we will test your home again to show you the difference.
According to the Department of Energy, insulation is the best way to reduce energy usage. Our BPI technicians will inspect your attic and basement insulation and inform you of what effective R-Value is for your current installed insulation. We will also recommend additional insulation if it is warranted and suggest the type(s) of insulation that will be most cost effective. If you qualify for a rebate to help offset some of the cost, our technicians will sign it over to you. Since the rebate is not exclusive to Homestead, the rebate application will contain all the necessary information to assist in your decision to secure the services of an insulation professional.
Energy Efficient LED Light Bulbs
Technicians will replace up to 25 incandescent bulbs with long-lasting LED lights. Additional LEDs and CFL replacements may be purchased for a cost determined by the Home Energy Solutions℠ program; however these lights must be installed by our technicians during the HES, and Homestead is not allowed to leave any behind.
Water Saving Devices
If needed, you will also receive energy-saving, low-flow shower heads and faucet aerators to lower water usage and related heating costs.
DOE Home Energy Score
With your consent, our Home Performance Specialist will gather additional information about your home that will generate a score from 1-10. This will allow you to compare your home to any other home within the United States. You will be provided with additional information about the DOE Home Energy Score at the time of your HES.
At the end of the HES, the Home Performance Specialist will review and provide you a Home Energy Report detailing your home's information. This report includes estimated annual energy costs prior to the visit, after the visit, and after completing additional recommendations. The report specifically shows where savings were achieved and what measures produced those savings. The recommendations will provide an estimated cost, the estimated annual savings in electricity and heating fuel, as well as the payback in years.
Rebates and Incentives
At the end of the HES, the Home Performance Specialist will provide rebates and incentives to which you may be entitled. These incentives include:
- Rebates for ENERGY STAR® appliances (if your current refrigerator, freezer, washer, or dehumidifiers are more than ten years old)
- Rebates for insulation
- Wireless thermostats
- Other energy saving producing measures
*Service Fees Subject to change.
